Servizi Integrati di Sicurezza S.r.l. (S.I.S.) is a sector leader in the provision of environmental monitoring systems for noxious or potentially explosive atmospheres. It supplies highly specialized technicians and state-of-the-art equipment for monitoring operations in confined spaces, providing a safety service for the execution of high-risk processes.
Areas of Application: Refineries, Oil and Gas Treatment Facilities, Petro-chemical Plants, Industrial Sites.
The service can be made available to these sites at any point in their processing cycle, for example: routine or emergency maintenance procedures, shutdown, cleaning of separators and desulphurization towers, turnaround of plants and refineries.
Servizi Integrati di Sicurezza S.r.l. provides an on-site advisory service to its clients to establish the tests required within the working area by examining the processes and substances involved.
After such tests have been carried out, and depending on the operational risks found, two distinct “risk” conditions will be identifiable, related to different forms of certification:
CONDITION 1
Gas-free status: This is the condition of a premises or environment after the total removal of the liquid element and the complete elimination of inflammable gases and vapours (whether absorbed and/or adsorbed in the fabric of the structure and/or in any residue still present) in such a way that the atmosphere of the location remains unchanged over time notwithstanding any changes in temperature or environmental pressure.

Gas Free Certificate: The certificate provided by our technician must be attached to the work permit from the commissioning company.
The work permit should carry written details of the specific activities for which the “Gas Test Entrant Atmospheric Test Form” is required.
The work permit should also record the number of the “Gas Test Entrant Atmospheric Test Form” which is only valid for the activity specified on the work permit.
N.B. No special recommendations are involved.
CONDITION 2
Non-hazardous status: This is the condition of a premises or space whose atmosphere, regardless of the degree to which the liquid element and any residual solids have been removed, registers a content of gas and/or inflammable vapour below the L.E.L. or above the U.E.L. or at least at less than 10% of the L.E.L. (the agreed percentage set for hydrocarbons by the National Fire Protection Agency NFPA 306) which could remain in such conditions for a determined period of time.
Certificate of non-hazardous status: Allows one to carry out cold work (e.g. mechanical maintenance, dismantling, cleaning etc.) when a gas-free status is unachievable, or can be used as the basis for implementing further corrective measures to obtain gas-free certification.
